The Alaska Aces take on the Las Vegas Wranglers in professional hockey action at Sullivan Arena in a November 15, 16, and 17 triple-header. The games take place at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16. The final game will take place at 3:05 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17.
The Aces are an ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames. Their exhibition season kicked off on October 7, 2013, and the regular season began on October 18. Last season, the Aces were the regular season champions but were knocked out of the playoffs at the quarterfinals, while the Wranglers were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round. But the prior season was phenomenal for Las Vegas. The Aces met the Wranglers in the 2011-2012 season playoff, dropping the conference finals game to the Wranglers, which went on to win the Kelly Cup.
This year brings a number of lineup changes for the Aces. Goaltender Joni Ortio, who was Finland’s representative at the World Championships, has moved to Alaska from the Abbotsford Heat. He took Laurent Brossoit’s place, with Borroit heading back to the American Hockey League.
Sullivan arena is located at 1600 Gambell St. in Anchorage. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit http://www.AlaskaAces.com.
